Helianthus salicifolius Willowleaf Sunflower is a tall prairie perennial with a green stalk and yellow disc flowers. It features long, drooping leaves covered in small hairs that are reminiscent of willow leaves, giving this plant its common name. Its blooms reach about 2-2.5" across at maturity, and typically grow in clusters. Willowleaf Sunflower loves full sun and appreciates a medium amount of water in well-drained soil. It can tolerate some shade, but it may result in fewer flowers and taller, weaker stalk growth that requires support. It attracts native bees, birds and butterflies.
