Lythrum alatum A fast-growing subshrub with many star-shaped flowers. It typically blooms in summer and attracts a plethora of pollinators. Found in all but about 15 states, this plant is versatile and will grow in fields, wet meadows, ditches, roadsides, pond edges, streams and garden settings. Flowers may be born singly or in pairs on spike-like racemes. They have 6 purple to pinkish petals, each with a magenta mid vein. Attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.
