Dinosaur-period limestone covers much of Texas. In areas such as the Edwards Plateau of central Texas, nodules of flint formed in the limestone. While widely sought after for flintknapping, these nodules occasionally contain preserved fossils as well. These tumble-polished flint specimens contain fossils of Turritella, a spiral gastropod, tiny blue agate zones, and areas of blue agate replacement in the fossils.
