Pp. 388, (8, ads) + steel engraved frontispiece of Napoleon Bonaparte; pp. vi, 372, (12, ads); + steel engraved frontispiece of Joseph Bonaparte.  Publisher’s original purple cloth, lettered in gilt on the spines and ornately blind-stamped in circular patterned decorations on the front and rear covers, sm 8vo (7.75 x 5.25 inches).  These two volumes contain a translation of all the Letters and Orders of Napoleon originally published in the memoirs of Joseph Bonaparte.  No ownership marks and few signs of use.  At the top of each title page, there is a former owner’s signature that is dated 1856, the same year the set was published.
