You’ve never seen a leaf like this! Dark green, five-pointed leaves appear as though they were painted with flecks of rich gold and yellow. In the fall, the foliage turns to glorious shades of pink and scarlet. Truly a feast for the eyes throughout the year! The birds will love it for the spiky brown fruits that emerge after the leaves. Site this tree in a sunny spot, but keep it watered when it’s small. Once established, this sweetgum is more drought tolerant. Conditions: Full sun to part shade; evenly moist, well-drained soils Size: 30’-60’ tall; 20’-30’ wide Zone: 5 – 9 Wildlife Value: Fruits attract birds Photo: Katherine Wagner-Reiss
