This little woodland flower’s graceful appearance in the woodlands for its brief flowering performance (a spring ephemeral loves to put on a good show!) is worth some celebration. White Trout Lily appears to be taking a bow, with the gracefully arched neck of its stem topped by a nodding flower with white petals. The dappled green and purplish pair of leaves stretch out on either side of the stem like small wings or arms raised to complete the “ta-da!” effect.  Add some short-but-sweet theatrical spring flair to your garden, and don’t be stingy with your applause.   Conditions: Partial sun to shade, moist but well-drained soil  Size: 6-12" tall, 3-6" wide  Zone: 3 - 8  Wildlife Value: Flowers support specialist bees    Photo: Samantha Nestory
