Considered one of Art Nouveau's most innovative and talented creative forces, Eugène Grasset is today remembered for depicting women with great elegance.  Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1845, he worked mainly in Paris during the Belle Epoque in various creative design fields. He studied drawing and architecture in Zürich. After completing his education, his family took him to Egypt. This experience would later be reflected in a number of his poster designs.  Grasset's versatility as a designer was genuinely remarkable. He left his mark on many creative fields, from furniture to wallpapers, fabrics to tapestries, ceramics to jewelry. His architectural woodwork elements were integrated into buildings, showcasing his diverse skills.  In 1877, he turned to graphic design, and poster art quickly became his forte.
