We've all probably heard the old proverb that March comes "in like a Lion, out like a lamb" before. But where does it come from, and more than that, is it true? One of the earliest citations is in Thomas Fuller's 1732 compendium, Gnomologia: Adagies and Proverbs; Wise Sentences and Witty Sayings, Ancient, Modern, Foreign, and British. As it turns out, there are a few origin theories. There are the stars, for one. Some suggest the saying comes from an astronomical connection. For example, in March, the Leo zodiac is the rising sign; when we reach April, it is a ram. Another theory gives the saying a biblical origin. Jesus's first appearance was as the sacrificial lamb.
