ATLANTIC: 1982 - Deluxe pre-maiden voyage intro brochure
Home Lines: A sixteen-page, pre-maiden voyage brochure for the ATLANTIC issued in June 1981, almost a year before her maiden voyage. The brochure is filled with artist renderings. Hype in the introduction gushes, "The Crest of the New Wave in Cruising: Combining the talents of 7 leading architects and decorators from 4 different countries to mark the end of the standardized look in cruise ship design."Whatever their directions were, beauty apparently was not top of the list. The ATLANTIC was supposed to be the successor to the highly popular OCEANIC but fell short of that ship's style. In 1985 a blue band was painted around her hull to improve her appearance but without much success. After Home Lines sold out the ship went to Premier to become the STARSHIP ATLANTIC and then onto MSC where she sailed as MELODY. Later she became the Korean accommodation ship QING. She went to the breakers in 2018. Very good condition.
