Fyffes Line:  A fold-out (17” by 22”) tissue deck plan for the CAMITO.  Although undated, it is from around the time of the ship’s maiden voyage in 1956.  The ship carried one-hundred First Class passengers on the banana boat run from Southampton to the British colonies in the Caribbean.  Three decks are shown with spacious cabins on each.  Promenade Deck also contained the Smoke Room and Bar, Library and Writing Room, Lounge with dance floor, and an outdoor pool.  The highlight on Bridge Deck was two large suites overlooking the bow.  A deck below on Saloon Deck was the Dining Saloon.   Passengers on CAMITO were mostly British diplomats and business people traveling back and forth between the Caribbean and the home land.  Bill Miller reports that carrying bananas was the main focus of Fyffes and that the unofficial company slogan was “every banana is a guest and every passenger is a pest!”  Of course the jet doomed CAMITO just as it did to almost every other passenger ship.  She went
