UNITED STATES: 1952 - Original Tourist Class Smoking Room chair
United States Lines - An original chair from the Tourist Class Smoking Room aboard the S.S. UNITED STATES in remarkably good condition. This is the third of the Smoking Room chairs that I've offered. The other two found delighted owners in California and Michigan. The chair measures 20" deep by 22.5" wide by 31" tall. Besides in Tourist Class, these high-style chairs were also used in the Cabin Class Dining Room, although upholstered in different colors. This chair retains its shipboard upholstery which, according to the tag on the bottom, was reupholstered on Voyage 198, about mid-way through the SSUS' seventeen-year career. In early Tourist Class Smoking Room photos the upholstery appears to be lipstick red while later images show a tomato-red color as on this chair. USL promotional materials say the material is leather. The chair was purchased by a fan at the 1984 onboard auction. It has been unused and in storage every since. UPS Ground shipping will be $100 in the continental U.S.A
