NYK Line: From August 1940, a deluxe, twenty-four page intro brochure with fold-out decks plans for the YAWATA MARU, the second of three planned sisters for NYK's Yokohama-Hamburg service. "No statelier vessel graces the ocean waves," proclaimed NYK. "Nippon Yusen Kaisya is proud to dedicate another luxury liner ... It is the S.S. YAWATA MARU, second of the already famous N.Y.K. 'Ocean Triplets' ... With the debut of her younger sister KASUGA MARU in April 1941, the 'Three Graces of N.Y.K. will be complete." Inside are detailed renderings showing off a Japanese-deco vibe.
