Varietal Honey - Lousiana Tallow

Rich, earthy and slightly cinnamon-y in taste, this honey is produced from the blossoms of the Chinese Tallow Tree. A tall, sturdy tree species with long yellow flowers that resemble strands of popcorn is also known as the "popcorn tree" and is prolific in the Southern states. The term "tallow" refers to the waxy quality of the leaves, which are also used in candle and soap-making. This varietal is delicious in fall dishes, hot cereals, and warm ciders!
