Dendrobates auratus “Peña Blanca”

Peña Blanca are a beautiful locale of Auratus which can display significant variation in appearance between individuals. Their pattern can be very intricate giving a finely reticulated appear on one end, all the way over to wide white bands on the other end of the spectrum. When tadpoles go through metamorphosis and become froglets they emerge with subtle coloration and a barely discernible pattern. As the froglets grow the contrast between their black and white coloration quickly increases revealing their beautiful patterns. Auratus can be kept in groups, and while juveniles can be relatively shy, their boldness increases with age.
