SEDUCTION of the INNOCENT #1 1950's HORROR Comics Reprint published by eclipse Comics in 1985 Stories- "Alice In Terrorland" by Alex Toth, "The Thing from the Sea" by Ralph Mayo, "The Ugliest Man in the World" by Jack Katz, Doom in the Depths" by Jon L. Blummer, "Hanged by the Neck" by Reed Crandall Comic book title inspired by The Comic Book Scare of the 50's based on: Seduction of the Innocent by German-American psychiatrist Fredric Wertham, published in 1954, that warned that comic books were a negative form of popular literature and a serious cause of juvenile delinquency. The book was taken seriously at the time, and was a minor bestseller that created alarm in parents and galvanized them to campaign for censorship. At the same time, a U.S. Congressional inquiry was launched into the comic book industry.
