Developed as a go to espresso but makes a great drip coffee. Between 1830 and 1840, where the modern community of Bridgeport is today, was a grim place referred to as Hardscrabble. Chicago’s first slum was inhabited by Irish immigrants that spent their lives digging the Illinois-Michigan canal by hand. Called “shovelmen” these hardworking souls were paid a $1 a day and whiskey.
