The roll out of these so called "smart" utility meters goes against the Constitution of the U.S. These meters, once appliances are updated with computer chips, invade our privacy by letting the utility know exactly when you turn on or off an appliance and exactly what appliance it is. Many people have also reported that their utility bills doubled. The electric utilities will be able to remotely turn off an appliance in your home if running during "peak" load hours. They will be charging more if you are running appliances during these peak hours. This is an invasion of the right to privacy in our homes. Furthermore, there are health issues created by these new digital meters.
