Geum triflorum - Prairie Smoke
Geum is an excellent little native plant that is often underutilized. It is easy to grow and this particular geum has pink flowers that open into amazing smoke like seed heads that seem to float above the plant like a scene from ghost-busters. Flowers grow to 12-16” in height, but stems arch and reach causing final height to vary considerably. It is a good plant for the middle-front of a garden bed. Just like painting or decorating. Drought tolerant once established. Easily grown and underutilized, Geum tolerates a wide variety of weathers and soil conditions with little complaint. Hot summers and cold winters create no problems for this tough little flower, which can grow in a variety of well drained soil conditions. Divide plants frequently for stronger, more consistent blooms. Photo Credit: Stonehouse Nursery
