‘Are we or they Lords of the World?’ One of the earliest works of fiction to detail a conflict between mankind and an extra-terrestrial race, the story has influenced countless movies, TV shows, and other media. The protagonist, an unnamed man in Surrey, and his younger brother must navigate London as southern England is invaded by Martians. Their adventure has spawned one of the most commented-on works in science fiction. First published in 1897, this edition is derived from the book published in 1906 in France with 134 black & white illustrations by Henrique Alvim Corréa.
