Vue et Description du Cap de Bonne Esperance | Le Fort de Bonne Esperance des Hollandois au Cap This is a prominent view of the Cape of Good Hope with Dutch Galleons sailing just off the coast and Table Mountain rising in the background. A second image depicts the Dutch fort which is known today a the "Castle of Good Hope," on a starry night with a smaller vessel at sail. The castle of Good Hope was built by the Dutch East India Company between 1666 and 1679 and is presently the oldest building in South Africa.
