1680 Paskaart Van Een Gedeelte Van De Kust Van Portugal

The map was published in Amsterdam circa 1680. This striking sea chart of the Portuguese coast spans from just north of Lisbon to the town of Porto. An elaborate title cartouche in the upper right shows a scene of winemakers filling bottles. The region displayed in the map was known for their production of Port wine. An elaborate web of rhumb lines disperse from two compass roses and a merchant ship sails along the coast. At lower left, a distance scale showing Dutch, Spanish, English, and French miles is adorned by three putti. Condition: Map is in A condition with original color and gold accents.
