The map was created by Henri Chatelain as part of his 7 volume atlas published out of Amsterdam in 1719. This is a fascinating map that displays loads of information pertinent to early 18th century fur trappers, traders, and settlers. From the delineated limits of French Canada, just south of the Great Lakes to Hudson Bay, the map notes locations of Native American tribes, French forts (both active and abandoned), French and English villages, numerous river crossings, and other essential travel information.
