Jerusalem was considered by many to be the very center of the world and was often referred to as such. Munster captured much of its beauty in his map, with Mount Zion as a landmark in the upper left quadrant, and the Garden of Gethsemane in the lower left. Further details include a rendering of the Western Wall of the Temple of Solomon along with remains of the Temple itself, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the house of Caiaphus and numerous other ancient buildings.
