ARTIST: Alan Bell (1900-1991) He was born in 1900 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the youngest of four boys to parents Frank & Jean Bell, and lived for many years at Hopewell Cape, Albert county, N.B., Canada. He studied art in Detroit, Mich, in 1920 at the Wicker school of fine art, and in 1928 at the Detroit school of lettering. In 1968 he won first prize for a painting of a Schooner at the Maritime Artists Association exhibition in Fredericton.
