Barbados X, Meghan Adkins Measures: 25"H x 25"W  Acrylic on wood panel.  Meghan Adkins' is an Oakland-based painter whose work revolves around resurrecting abandoned worlds and infusing historic settings with contemporary perspectives on home, history, and the nuanced complexities of belonging to a place in time. Adkins attended California College of the Arts and Mills College, receiving her BA in 2016.  Adkins' work serves as a vehicle for the exploration of cultural identities, and the complex layers of historical heritage embedded within the concept of home. By imbuing these worlds with subtle reflections on the enduring legacies of displacement and dispossession, she invites her audience to contemplate the interplay between personal narratives and broader historical context.
