Antique Vietnamese Catholic IHS Chalice Design Chasuble Authentic Ecclesiastical Garment
This vintage Vietnamese Catholic purple silk chasuble features a central chalice with the Christogram IHS (the ancient symbol for Jesus Christ) emblazoned above it and bursting from it as well as a beautiful variety of intricately woven floral and fruit designs, in both gilded metallic threads and silk embroidery. Its condition is rather imperfect, testament to its age and how much it was used. Most people associate Catholicism in Viet Nam with the French colonial period, which is very much the case.
