
Organic Mullein Leaf
Botanical Name: Verbascum thapsus Common Names: Great Mullein, Velvet plant, White mullein, Bullock's Lungwort Shepherd's club, Hare's Ceard, Cow's Lungwort, and Candlewick Plant, which refers to the old practice of using the dried down of mullein leaves and stems to make lamp wicks. Folk Name: “Hag’s Tapers” Magical Folk Uses: Instils courage; wards off evil spirits; protection from wild animals; love drawing; wards against nightmares and negativity; divination; used as a substitute for graveyard dirt. It was believed that wearing mullein would ensure fertility. Medicinal Folk Uses: Historically used to treat a wide range of respiratory and upper airway ailments in both humans and livestock. These include coughs, sore throat, bronchitis, COPD and asthma. The Navajos would smoke the the roots or dried leaves to treat asthma. The root was made into a necklace for teething infants by the Abnaki tribe. Applied topically, mullein is said to relieve, skin/eye inflammation,
