I hate to admit this in mixed company, but Treponema pallidum is my favorite bacteria. Look at her. That cute little spirochete shape is every bacteria's dream. Even cooler is that she can lay low for decades and not cause a problem and then you have a deadly meningitis. What? Treponema is low and slow: like a deadly crockpot. It has a slow metabolic rate, taking an average of 30 hours to multiply, and can just hang out and not cause symptoms for quite a while. *I apparently can't say the disease she causes on Etsy, but you know the one.
