Each plate requires 15 to 30 hours of firing, and due to the intricate nature of the glazing technique, only about 60% of the plates emerge as finished products. This limited yield makes each piece all the more precious. The soft lavender hue that adorns this plate is applied using a transparent glaze, an exceptionally challenging technique known as underglaze painting. During the process, the color is completely invisible until after the plate is fired in the kiln, relying entirely on the artisan’s experience and instinct to ensure perfection.
