Suwanee Blue-Eyed Grass. This native Sisyrinchium sp. or Blue-eyed Grass was found growing on the limestone walls of the Suwanee River in north Florida by plantsman Charles Webb. It can actually remain submerged for weeks at a time and still thrive when the water of the Suwannee floods and recedes. It makes a wonderful groundcover for a semi-shaded to sunny location which gets adequate moisture. It has the same small blue iris-like flowers as is characteristic of this genus. Its leaves get 6-8" in height with its flower stalks slightly taller. This is one of our great native perennials.  Zones 7-10
