I, too, lived this way until I made the decision to move to Mexico. This decision felt like opening a gateway, or a portal, to new possibilities. The stairway in the painting represents that journey, leading to Mexico, where a Chihuahua stands at the bottom, welcoming me. The Chihuahua holds personal significance as well—it’s not only a symbol of Mexico but was our family pet, who passed away about 10 years ago.
