This module reviews the principles of ALARA and other good practices for implementing an effective radiation safety program. The online course should provide trainees with a better understanding of the elements of a radiation safety program, which typically includes the following: Radiation Safety Officer's duties and responsibilities Responsibilities and requirements of users or radiation or radioactive materials General policies and procedures for the use of radiation sources Radioactive contamination, spill, and other emergency procedure Radiation dosimetry for personnel Area survey procedures Disposal of radioactive materials Procedures for procurement, receipt and inventory of radiation sources Qualifications of users and radiation safety training 1 hour is awarded on the certificate for this training based on anticipated time to complete all training modules and review all relevant reference material.
