The New Italy
Friday, October 24, 2025 | 6:30pm-8:30pm Class location: Some Good Wine Back in May, we hosted the 'New Spain', followed by the 'New France' in July. And while it wasn't my intention, I guess we created a new genre because here comes the 'New Italy', and this one will not disappoint. I love Italian classics - Barolo, Brunello, Valpolicella, and Chianti (especially Chianti!). But, as it is with Bordeaux in France, or Rioja in Spain, those regions need no hype or promotion. They produce great wines, but so does Sardinia, Basilicata, Mt Etna on Sicily, and Conero in the Marche and I'm just getting started. In this class, we'll go to places where young producers and old vignerons alike are producing shockingly good wines, often for far less money than their fabled counterparts. Not only less money, but equally distinct in their ability to tell the story of where they are made - the soil, the weather, and the indigenous grapes with which they are made.
