The mattress sits about 1.25" - 1.5" down from that top edge, so figure the mattress sits around 13.75" - 13.5" from the floor. Bookcase Headboard: 43.25 H 6 drawers, 2 doors Dove-tailed drawers, ball-bearing drawer glides Headboard has 2 sliding doors (doors slide side to side) Some assembly required for pedestal bed This is a free-standing headboard.  It is not made to be attached to the bed, just put up against the bed frame.
