February 2025 marks Black History Month, and BPPALN in partnership with Oaklandish presents ‘Easy to Remember’ - a new series of designs by renowned graphic artist. The title is inspired by a song from the legendary John Coltrane, and nods towards recognizing and remembering the true legacy of the Black Panther Party: the creation of enduring, lasting community survival programs that serve the people, instead of the sensationalized public perception of the Party tarnished by the government and their controlled media. #3 Clinics - The Black Panthers created the George Jackson Health Clinic - the first free medical clinic for low-income and marginalized communities. The clinic provided free health services, including sickle cell testing, and became a model for free clinics in other American cities.
