Handwoven from locally sourced fibers such as millet straw, banana fiber & raffia, these colorfully stunning one-of-a-kind baskets are rich in cultural meaning and purpose-- a perfect center piece, bread/fruit bowl, or popular wall decor. Style as a set of two to make a statement that’s both beautiful and extremely useful. Each basket is intricately handwoven by our Uganda artisan partners and takes about three to five days to complete. All made start-to-finish by a fair trade cooperative in western Uganda started to provide the local women with sustainable economic opportunity. Traditionally these basket plates are used for serving food. The vibrant colors come from natural dyes made from flowers, roots, leaves, and lichens grown by the weavers themselves.
