Herkimer Diamond Mini Cluster 626-24

This is a reconstructed cluster. What is reconstructed? Well over the course of 450+ million years, the clusters sometimes separate at the meeting point. Earthquakes, temperature changes, ice flows, you name it - the weather in that much time sometimes has an effect. These are not "repairs", which implies a broken crystal. Pete, who has better eyes and far more patience than I, reconstructs them like a puzzle. Each crystal is fit back in the exact place it formed. It is really quite cool. 1.5" 15.6 grams
