Burgundy Patchwork Shelf

Small hardwood cutoffs of varying species are arranged on a plywood backer and given a deep red dye wash, unifying the disparate wood colors while maintaining subtle shifts in tone.  Here the outline of the piece is left irregular, with two small shelves extending naturally from the front surface and a single dowel peg to hang something from. It's the perfect spot for a small plant or a special object you'd like to show off.
