Anna Jameson (1794–1860) was a British art critic and early feminist thinker. This is one of her most famous works, being a study of Christian iconography, saints and biblical figures in painting. Profusely illustrated throughout with illustrations and black and white plates. Good condition. Covers to volume one are warped and the book doesn't sit flat. Otherwise solid books with shelf wear.
