Citrine Specimen About This Specimen Citrine, a member of the Quartz family, comes in many shades ranging from oranges to yellows.  Specimens from the Congo tend to range in tone from a pale champagne to a darker iced tea color.  The cause of Citrines sunny hue is still under debate.  Some Citrines are colored by aluminum-based and irradiation-induced color centers, similar to those found in smoky quartz.
