If you haven't heard of it yet, Ribera del Duero is just west and south of Rioja. While it is less well known that Rioja, it produces Tempranillo wine that rivals that of Rioja! Here, the climate has less oceanic influence. Nights are cooler and days warmer, creating a Tempranillo that has more power than that of the smooth Tempranillo of Rioja.
