Woodblock Print Stuffed Bird - Japanese Bush Warbler
The rustic and charming Japanese bush warbler (uguisu) is woodblock printed on cotton and stuffed with rice husk. The rice husks give a perfect amount of volume and firmness to bring the expertly shaped and printed bird to life. The small bird is beloved in Japan and is often featured in poetry and art. In Japan, the distinctive call of the bush warbler is associated with the beginning of spring; thus an image of a plum blossom is printed on the belly of the bird. A red tag on the string says uguisu on one side and "hand printed woodblock by Shinkougei" on the other. It gives a nice accent to any bird lover's room; it also works as a Christmas tree ornament.
