~ Rhodolite ~ Discovered in the Cowee Valley of North Carolina, late 1800s.  A Rhode Island mineralogist by the name William Earl Hidden first found this variety of Garnet. Greek "Rhodon-rose like" "Lithos-stone" Named by George Kunz as he felt its color resembled the Rhododendron flower of North Carolina. Rome, Greece, Egypt all used this stone as protection against evil & bad dreams. Some tribes of the Southwest Americas & Asia used this mineral in the making of bullet's well into the 1800s. Used to balance energy and heal sour emotions.
