Common Rush is a common and useful species. It is excellent for erosion control in wet areas. It is a major food source for waterfowl, songbirds and small mammals. Provides habitat for amphibians and a spawning areas for fish. Its rhizomatous nature, nitrogen fixing capabilities, dense root system along with its ability to support numerous beneficial bacteria, make it well suited for wastewater treatment applications.
