Solidago rigida - Stiff Goldenrod
Stiff Goldenrod is a native perennial wildflower growing to a height of around 3 to 4 feet. It has an erect reddish unbranched stem. It is an essential native plant species for pollinators late into the growing season. The inflorescence is a grouping of branched clusters, large for the size of the plant, that is somewhat flat-topped and to 10" wide. Grows well in garden bed settings if managed. Otherwise, can become aggressive. This important pollinator species is found in a number of our native seed mixes including the Ohio Pollinator Oasis Native Seed Mix, Deer Resistant Native Seed Mix and Slope Pollinator Native Seed Mix. Generally found east of the Rocky mountains to the east coast of the United States and in eastern Canada. Also known as Oligoneuron rigidum.
