Restored Onkyo A-10 Integrated Amplifier and Matching T-9 Tuner
Onkyo is overlooked sometimes when it comes to the golden age of HiFi. This presents an opportunity for excellent $$$ per performance. The A-10 is an interesting integrated amplifier with about 80 watts per channel, excellent THD, and a design that was rare in this class of equipment. The amplifier consists of dual transformers (one per channel) and a single dual-section main filter per transformer. In theory, this eliminates distortion caused by program material with high levels of left-right separation. It creates a more stable power supply and linear response regardless of the opposing channels output. It is built as well (and better in some cases) compared to the Pioneers, Sansuis, and Marantzs of it's time. The faceplate and knobs are solid aluminum and the switches operate with a solid "thunk". The preamp section also includes the ability to drive MC (moving coil) cartridges which would normally require a separate matching transformer / phono amp to accomplish. I restored
