Since I first began making pottery, I was attracted to Bronze Age pottery from the island of Cyprus, in particular the base ring jug form which features a bulbous body on a pedestal with a long, narrow neck. The form supposedly resembles the upside down seed pod of a poppy flower and was used to transport different liquids including opium and olive oil. This vessel may be used as a water pitcher or flower vase. It is quite light-weight for its size. 12” tall, 6” diameter
