
White Willow Bark Tincture
White Willow Bark, Salix alba, may help occasional minor pain from injury. This herb was used by indigenous Native Americans well before Columbus or the Vikings inhabited the land. It has also been used for healing in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1828, German chemist named Felix Hoffman isolated the active ingredient in this herb and named it salicin. In 1899, the Bayer Company began to manufacturing and selling a modified form of the willow bark chemical acetylsalicyclic acid, or aspirin. This pioneer of the modern miracle medicines has been a pillar in the treatment of joint pain ever since. A tincture is substance that contains an herbal medicine in an alcohol solution.
