9x12 Acrylic on canvas by Ben Fleischman  Artist Statement: “I feel good when I paint. Big brushes on a big canvas work best. I like to do art with the radio on. I paint in time to the music. Painting is great. Sometimes I’m surprised by how my paintings turn out, but I always like them.”   Ben Fleischman works primarily with acrylic paints, creating striking abstract compositions. Fleischman uses a tape-resist process to juxtapose bold colors against one another over progressive passes. Working on both small and large canvases, Fleischman’s work is characterized by organic flows of brushwork punctuated by sharp angular transitions. The gestural rhythm of his work is a result of the physical movement of his arm and brush accompanied by the melodic verbalization of words and sounds that fuel his process.
