Limited vinyl LP repressing of this classic 1968 album from the late singer/songwriter. Laura was just 20 when she recorded this remarkable LP. Nyro soared to an artistic high point (though, inexplicably, she barely charted) with her second album, originally issued in March of 1968. Here we have her exquisitely arranged recordings of "Stoned Soul Picnic" and "Sweet Blindness" (both covered by 5th Dimentsion) and of "Eli's Comin'" (covered by Three Dog Night) plus "Poverty Train," "Lonely Women," "Timer" and more. The album's themes are of passion, love, romance, death, and drugs, and the songs are delivered in Nyro's distinctive brash neo-operatic vocals. Musically, it is a multi-layered and opulent work, including multi-tracked vocals, jazz instrumentation and strings. The album's loose genre is pop, but it also incorporates elements of jazz, opera, soul, gospel, and rock.
